Mindfulness Meditation

Your time at a Mindfulness Meditation will begin with some gentle stretching and breath awareness. We will then move into a comfortably position of either sitting or lying down, letting the eyes remain open or closed. The Facilitator will then guide you through a meditation, incorporating basic meditation practice (e.g., calming the body, becoming aware of your thoughts), mindfulness concepts (e.g., acceptance, loving kindness), and periods of silence.

We will end with a short reading and discussion about the Meditation experience, including any challenges experienced and question and answer.

Among the many benefits of Mindfulness Meditation (too numerous to list here) are:

  1. A decrease in emotional and metabolic stress
  2. An increase in overall quality of life
  3. Overall less reactivity to one's stressors, relationship conflicts, and emotional ups and downs
  4. The inner cultivation of various qualities of resilience (e.g., equanimity, perseverance)
